Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh – May 30, 2025
Acting on the orders of Excise Commissioner-in-Charge Mr. Shyam Dhawde and District Collector Mr. Haris S., the Excise Department carried out a major raid against illegal liquor in Bastar district.
The department’s enforcement team raided a grocery store in Toyar Sirhapara village, under Marudoom police station, and seized a large stock of illicit alcohol. The haul included:
132 glass bottles of Kingfisher Premium Lager Beer (manufactured in Odisha) totaling 85.80 bulk liters, and
12 bottles of Goa Special Whisky (Chhattisgarh-made) totaling 2.16 bulk liters
The total seizure amounts to 87.96 bulk liters, with an estimated market value of ₹25,200.
The accused, Baman Ram Vetti, was arrested on the spot. A case has been registered under Sections 34(1)(A), 34(2), 36, and 59-K of the Chhattisgarh Excise Act. He was presented in court and has been sent to judicial custody.
